    Biosynthetic Potential and metabolites of the Bioherbicide Colletotrichum spinosum

    C. spinosum was first found and reported in Queensland, Australia, as Colletotrichum sp.1 and later discovered in New South Wales.2 In the late 1940s, this fungus caused severe damage (50–80% mortality) in the Xanthium spinosum population.3,4 C. spinosum was recently identified as a species within the C. orbiculare complex,4 and has previously been investigated as a targeted bioherbicide for X.
