Abstract

Zeolites are hydrated aluminosilicates having a microporous crystalline structure. There are 48 different types of zeolites known to occur naturally as minerals and more than 150 zeolite types have been artificially synthesized. The first zeolite, stilbite; a natural mineral was discovered in 1756 by a Swedish mineralogist and a chemist Friedrich Axel Cronstedt.
