dc.description.abstractDespite nationwide initiatives to improve the retention of women and minorities in the sciences and engineering, the percentage of female graduate students in chemistry is at 40.9% and the percentage of female postdoctoral fellows is at 25.5% in 2019; furthermore the percentage of female chemists employed by the federal government has decreased by 4% from 2008 to 2017 in the United States.
